I'm Mairead Barry and my mother taught me about wool and knitting by osmosis - I don't remember ever formally learning anything!
I started Knitwell by opening a shop in Bantry in 1988 when I was 20. We then expanded to the Clonakilty shop in 2000 and I've now been in business for over 30 years.
I know all the Aran stitches, and I can help you figure out how many balls of wool you need to knit your own items, or what jumper is going to suit you and fit well.

Shop opening hours do vary with the seasons but we can make an appointment to suit you within the hours of 10am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Closed Bank holidays. Please note the Bantry shop is currently closed until further notice.
